We are looking for a Crisis Communications Specialist to lead strategic communication efforts before, during, and after critical incidents that may affect an organization’s reputation, operations, stakeholders, or public trust. This role is responsible for developing clear, timely, and accurate messaging in fast-moving situations, helping leadership navigate uncertainty while protecting brand credibility and maintaining transparency. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, highly organized, politically aware, and experienced in managing sensitive communications across internal and external audiences.
As a Crisis Communications Specialist, you will work closely with executive leadership, legal, human resources, operations, security, and public relations teams to prepare for and respond to a wide range of issues, including operational disruptions, cyber incidents, workplace events, regulatory matters, product recalls, public controversies, and media scrutiny. You will assess communication risks, draft statements, prepare briefing materials, coordinate approvals, and ensure consistency across channels such as press releases, internal announcements, social media, customer communications, and spokesperson talking points.
A key part of this role involves proactive planning. You will help create crisis communication frameworks, response protocols, escalation procedures, stakeholder maps, and message templates that enable the organization to act quickly and responsibly when issues arise. You will also support media training, simulation exercises, and post-incident reviews to strengthen readiness and improve future response capabilities. Strong judgment is essential, as you will often need to balance speed, empathy, confidentiality, and legal considerations while communicating under intense pressure.
Success in this position requires exceptional writing and editing skills, a deep understanding of reputation management, and the ability to translate complex or evolving situations into clear, audience-appropriate messages. You should be comfortable advising senior leaders, monitoring public sentiment, and adapting communication strategies in real time based on new information. Experience working with journalists, digital platforms, and cross-functional crisis teams is highly valuable.
This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to play a critical role in protecting organizational trust. If you are strategic, resilient, and committed to thoughtful communication during challenging moments, this position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across the organization and its broader community.
