We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Oracle Database systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a 'hands-on' position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The Oracle Database Administrator will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of the Oracle database. This includes designing, building, implementing, and maintaining the Oracle database. The Oracle Database Administrator will also be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of clusters of Oracle databases. The Oracle Database Administrator will also be responsible for orchestrating upgrades, backups, and provisioning of database instances. The Oracle Database Administrator will also work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.

  • Manage Oracle Database instances.
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host databases.
  • Develop procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
  • Develop procedures for backup and recovery of database information.
  • Maintain archived data on tape.
  • Create new database users as required.
  • Manage sharing of resources amongst applications.
  • Plan growth and changes (capacity planning).
  • Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required.
  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Database administrator.
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL.
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding.
  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third party tools.
  • Familiarity with programming languages API.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
  • BS degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
