We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Forester to manage, develop, and protect forests. The Forester will be responsible for implementing plans to manage forest lands and resources, collecting and analyzing data on forest conditions, negotiating land-use contracts, and enforcing environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of forest ecology, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for conservation.

  • Develop and implement forest management plans.
  • Monitor forest-cleared lands to ensure that they are suitable for future use.
  • Choose and prepare sites for new trees using controlled burning, bulldozers, or herbicides to clear weeds, brush, and logging debris.
  • Plan and supervise forestry projects, such as determining the type, number and placement of trees to be planted, managing tree nurseries, thinning forest and monitoring growth of new seedlings.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions for forest harvesting and land-use contracts.
  • Direct, and participate in, forest fire suppression.
  • Analyze effect of forest conditions on tree growth rates and tree species prevalence and the yield, duration, seed production, growth viability, and germination of different species.
  • Monitor wildlife populations and assess the impacts of forest operations on population and habitats.
  • Educate the public about the importance of forests and the conservation of forest resources.
  • Enforce environmental regulations and ensure compliance with government regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Forester or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of forest ecology and woodland management.
  • Proficiency in using forest resource management tools and software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Good practical skills and the ability to use tools and machinery.
