We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Funeral Service Assistant to support funeral directors in the planning and execution of funeral services. As a Funeral Service Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of the deceased, setting up and breaking down service areas, transporting remains, and providing support to grieving families. You will work closely with funeral directors and other staff to ensure that all aspects of the service are handled with dignity and precision.
This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and a strong sense of responsibility. You must be comfortable working in emotionally charged environments and be able to maintain a calm and respectful demeanor at all times. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability on evenings and weekends, is often necessary.
Key duties include preparing the chapel or venue for services, assisting with visitations, managing guest books and floral arrangements, and ensuring that all logistical aspects of the service are coordinated effectively. You may also be required to drive funeral vehicles, assist with paperwork, and help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the funeral home.
